Laddy Comes to Visit!

Laddy the Leprechaun came to visit over the weekend and made a mess of our class! As you can see from these pictures Josie and Jasmine found his shoes and would not take them out of their sights!

During journal time this morning we wrote letters to Laddy to say thank you for the golden coin.

Leprechaun on the Loose!

Now this is celebrating St. Patrick's Day in style...

Check out these photos of our traps and rainbows!

How to Catch a Leprechaun!

The Kindergarten Kids completed their at home family projects for March and went WAY over and above the expectation!  The students were excited to share and eager to listen to each other. It was a perfect opportunity to videotape their explanation and reason for wanting to trap a leprechaun! They had the option this month to decorate a rainbow or create a trap. Some decided to do both and decorated the rainbow which was used in their trap to entice a leprechaun. Watch the following videos for a good laugh! Sorry my voice is so loud... I'm still getting use to using my phone to take pictures and video.

“There's no limit to how much you'll know, depending how far beyond zebra you go.” ― Dr. Seuss

Check out our video! It makes me smile and sad  to see how much the students have grown over the past six months. There wasn't a Dr. Seuss quote to express my feelings so I made one up! Here it goes (and it's okay to laugh. I sure did!)...

It makes me smile ear to ear
To see my students I hold so dear,
Making tremendous growth this year!
It makes me laugh,
It makes me cry,
They are the apple of my eye!

I am so proud of their hard work but on this day we had wacky, wild, and crazy fun! Enjoy the video.

Wacky Wednesday!

On Wednesday the students wore their wackiest socks to school in honor of Dr. Seuss's book, Wacky Wednesday! We had so much fun last week participating in different activities. Celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday lends its way to making learning fun and teaching effortless! Students have enjoyed reading and making up nonsense words.
“It all began with a shoe on the wall. A shoe on the wall shouldn't be there at all.”
Dr. Seuss, Wacky Wednesday

On Thursday we celebrated Theodor Suess Geisel by dressing up like The Cat in the Hat.  We also read The Lorax and completed a story map. I am so proud of their hard work. Terrific job Kindergarten Kids!
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Friday was green eggs and ham, but we had a snow day! Keep checking back for pictures from our celebration!

Top Hat Tuesday!

Today we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with Top Hat Tuesday!  The students were invited to wear their favorite hat to school.  In honor of Dr. Seuss and his contributions to children's literature we will have a different theme each day. Check back tomorrow for pictures on Wacky Sock Wednesday!
