Valentine's Day

This year Valentine's Day fell on our 101st day of school, so we had two consecutive days of fun filled activities. For Valentine's Day students made their own containers at home and then brought them in to collect all of their cards. We started the day with passing out cards and then moved into writing letters to someone special. It was rewarding to see how many of them quickly went to work writing and were excited to do so.  If you did not get a chance to read them please take a moment and do so.  They are hanging up in the classroom for your viewing. I have posted some of them here:

Fun in February!

February is such a busy, but fun time of the year. This month in Kindergarten we are  learning about how to keep our bodies strong and healthy.  This includes studying the heart, brain, lungs, and teeth as well as, following a healthy balanced diet.

We celebrated a birthday!

We celebrated the 100th day of school in style. The students and I dressed up to look like 100 years old. They were very surprised when I walked in looking like a 100 year old Mrs. Saggese and even asked to have their "young" teacher back.

Everyone completed a writing piece about what they would look like in 100 years and what they would be doing. So cute!

We counted out 10 sets of 10 to make a necklace out of 100 Fruit Loops, read stories about the number 100, and made a healthy trail mix with 100 food items!  It was really busy and a lot of fun!

We used the digits in the number 100 to make a picture. It was exciting to see all of the creative responses that the students came up with.

It has been a goal of mine for the past two years to set up a blog for my students and their families. I am very excited to share with you my very first of many posts. I hope that you will find this blog helpful and easy to follow. Check back often for pictures, videos, student work, and information on what we are learning in the classroom. Pease continue to use the classroom webpage for important procedures, upcoming events, and items that were discussed during Kindergarten orientation.
